Book of Days part two

More characters from more stories that will hopefully someday some amount to something awesome! These are a from a little story I'm jazzing up called Book of Days, which is like a romantic comedy in comic-form. Enjoy!

Back again! Here are some ink sketches done as part of an assignment in one of my last ever classes at SCAD.

The first couple are done in brush pen:

The next two are done in permanent marker (in case you couldn't already tell by the hasty linework):

And this last one was sketched in PITT pen, the medium size, I think:

Tolkien, how I love thee...

Here, in all its glorious nerdiness, are the character designs and thumbnails for my thesis project--also known as the beginnings of my adaptation of JRR Tolkien's The Silmarillion into an epic graphic novel. The first twenty pages were completed for my thesis, and you can see them at my all-things Tolkien-related blog: From the Lost Road. That's where I'll be posting all my Tolkien-related artworks so be sure to keep an eye on it!

Anyway, these lovely ladies are the Valier, Queens of the Valar:

And here we have the Valar Kings:

That last bit was a fun exercise to try and give each of the characters a unique shape. Try it sometime if you too have a massive cast that can sometimes be hard to keep track of.

Here's the main antagonist of The Silmarillion, a former member of the Valar and Sauron's predecessor, Melkor, who became known as Morgoth after he was discounted from the Valar:

Last, but certainly not least, we have the seven fathers of the Dwarves as well as the Two Trees!

These last couple of sketches are the thumbnails fro the pages I presented with my thesis--the pages changed a lot between these thumbnails and the finished versions...so don't be surprised to see them revised again one day...

Remember, Tolkien's characters, environments, and stories DON'T belong to me (even if I sometimes wish they did)

Character parade!

Proud to say that I'm still not dead--here's some proof!

This first sketch is Raven and she belongs to my good friend Andre Frattino, author and artist of the 'Flagler's Few' series!

Contrary to popular belief, no she's not water-bending...she's just a witch with all sorts of crazy powers! This next sketch includes a bunch of characters from one of my own in-progress stories--their appearances have actually changed a lot from when I first conceived them here...

Next is another character of my own, a gypsy named Isra! I'm working more on her story, so you'll probably see her floating around here more often in the future.

And here's some shameless fanart! Man I love water-bending. I love the ATLAverse in general...and I'm not sorry.

And it wouldn't be my sketchblog if there weren't pokemon involved. So here's me as a flying-type gym leader. I would rock your socks off. Just saying.

Anywho, here's some poster sketches! These were for a poster design class taken in SCAD's illustration department! You can see the finished products here!

Sadly, the last posters, those for the HHIPC, did not get finished as the class was only five weeks long and the professor just happened to be out of town the week and a half before the end of the class. But you never know, I just may finish them up in the not-so-distant future :)

Where in the world is Kate?

Hey all! I know it's been a while,  but in case you haven't noticed, I'm no longer in Savannah, GA. That's right, I've up and moved myself back northward to New York City! Craziness! But fear not, I have plenty of sketches a-comin'. Unfortunately, they will have to wait until I have regular access to the internet again, which, if all goes according to plan, should be tomorrow! Yay! So stay tuned for your regularly scheduled does of sketches!

How green the world would be...

If we had real pokemon. I mean, think about it. We wouldn't really need cars... or boats... or planes... and all kids would learn at ten years old that they need to leave home, walk everywhere, and make it for themselves. I don't know... sounds awesome to me. Anyway...

Women of Middle-earth

Oh look a series that has to do with The Silmarillion. WHAT A SURPRISE. I know. I was shocked too.

Anyway...

Because I love the story of Beren and Luthien more than anything else in the universe:
